Whether it be a CS:GO, or Dota 2 event or the recent Fortnite Pro-am tournament, Twitch has been the place to watch all of it. Since Twitch is the main source of entertainment for gamers, running it in an optimal manner is a must. Even a slight delay, lag, jitter or any issue of such sort can greatly hinder your experience. Whether it be casual streamer or watching it to learn from the Pros; twitch lag is simply unacceptable.

Disable the Applications Running in the Background. The Twitch streams buffering problem. I'm using firefox quantum, the latest build that gets pushed through the Update option in quantum. I notice that twitch lags Quantum with just 2 twitch windows open, so i check resource monitor and got this. This solution worked for many users who are facing Twitch buffering in chrome, firefox or other browsers. So, if you are using various extensions in your web browser then it is suggested to disable entire extensions and check if this works for you to fix Twitch buffering/lagging issues. Follow the steps to do so. On the twitch 720p60 (source) and non source it causes stuttering. However, that is not the solution for me, sadly. In the older versions of firefox even with those settings, it was going smoothly without any stuttering even at 60fps. Tried the link and it loaded just fine and paused and play and paused and play no stuttering or lags.

PC Specifications

Among the many reasons why you might be facing Twitch lag is due to your computer specifications. And if you are a streamer, this is going to haunt you the most. Viewers at this point won’t have much of a problem since watch twitch is just like watching a video on Youtube. However, for streamers it’s a bit different. Apart from the intense bandwidth that is required to stream, it takes a lot from your computer to do it in a smooth manner.

This is why having a good computer with better than average specifications is the least that you should have. We have compiled a list of things that you should keep in mind for this. Consider it as a benchmark and it you are facing troubles like lag while Twitch streaming then upgrading your PC is the first thing that you should do.

Twitch Lags On Firefox

Firewall Settings

Firewall is something that trouble Twitch streamers and viewers alike. There are different firewall settings that might be preventing to run twitch in smooth manner. Disabling such settings can help you overcome this issue or at least let you see if it is making any difference.

Antivirus

Your antivirus software running in the background might also be the culprit in this case. Antiviruses are programmed to stop any software that are leeching your bandwidth in the background. As a streamer, upload and download is constantly in progress and thus falls in the list of things that are stopped by the antivirus software. There are two workarounds for this. Either you can switch it to gaming mode while streaming twitch or you can deactivate it. The latter is an option for all antiviruses while the former is only applicable in new and updated antivirus software.

Using a Different Browser

Probably the easiest way you can stop Twitch lag is by trying a different browsers. If your twitch stops running for unknown reasons or doesn’t event start then it’s probably due to your browser. Updating it is also a solution to the problem but if you are too lazy to do that then probably switching over to different browser is the best thing for you.
This mostly happens if you are using Chrome as your sole browser. Chrome is notorious for taking up a lot of memory and thus leaving little to nothing for you stream. You can simply solve this by going to your Chrome settings and turning off “hardware acceleration.”

Removing Unwanted Extensions

Any unwanted extensions that you might have installed on your browser would be leading you to Twitch lag. A good way to see if these extensions are leading to the problem is by watching Twitch in the incognito mode.

If there is any difference, then it is obviously due to your extensions playing the part. Just continue watching Twitch in incognito mode or just disable the extensions to enjoy a Twitch lag free and smooth experience.

Updating Flash

This is one of the reasons that people don’t put their attention to. However, this is among the major reasons why you might be facing lag in Twitch. Solving it is even easier as you just have to update your Flash player.

Internet Connection

Now comes a bigger problem. And this is comparatively difficult to know and solve. And 75% of the time your internet connection would be the reason why you are facing jitter or lag in Twitch. As a streamer you have to be really careful about that. Having a good internet connection is a must and also to make sure that you are getting a consistent bandwidth throughout the day.

Just check your internet through a speed test whenever you are going over to Twitch. This will give you a good idea of how your internet is performing. And if you have a good internet connection and still you are facing problems then doing a few tweaks would greatly help.

• Disconnecting all other devices

Edge users are suggested to install the Chrome version of FrankerFaceZ.

Apple has decided to deprecate their previous extension model for Safari, in favor of what they're callingSafari App Extensions. We have decided as a result that it is infeasible to provide support for Safari goingforward. Our user script will still function in Safari, but we will no longer be providing packaged extensions.
