Poker pro and 1996 WSOP Main Event Champion Huck Seed has shown he is a dab hand at all forms of poker after taking down a $670,665 jackpot playing video poker at the Aria casino in Las Vegas.
The 42 year-old US pro had been playing the video poker machine for 6 hours pumping in $500 a hand and was already $50k down, when he suddenly hit a royal flush to take down the huge progressive jackpot.
In the hand in question Huck Seed apparently kept the K and J of spades he was dealt and drawing 3 additional cards, he then received the ace, queen and ten of spades thus completing his 1 in 16,215 Royal Flush long shot. A jubilant Huck Seed then took to his Lockerz.com account and posted:
“Jackpot 670,665, call the attendant…Internet poker is down in the US, but I’m still pressing buttons!”
The 6’7″ (2.01 m) poker pro has earned an impressive $7,258,542 playing live tournaments throughout his illustrious career and currently is placed 32nd on poker’s ‘All Time Money List.’ Ironically, apart from his $1 million victory at the 1996 WSOP Main Event, winning $670,665 playing the video poker machine represents his second largest score ever.
However, Huck Seed’s latest jackpot win was not all in the lap of the gods apparently, as the machine with the massive progressive jackpot had earlier caught his eye leading him to conduct some research on the subject.
Huck Seed then concluded that if he played perfect video poker, he would have an edge of around +0.65% or $3/hand providing he hit a big payout, with his calculaions indeed later proving prophetic after his six hour marathon session.
